MB In Other Words is the name of the translation firm that I, Maria Bertilsson, started in 2001. I hade just graduated from the Master's program in Translation of Specialist Languages at Gothenburg University.
I have had two shorter in-house positions at translation agencies in Gothenburg and in Cambridge, England, and have been working as a freelance translator ever since. In 2002 I moved to France, from where I continue my translation business.
Thanks to my cumulated experiences from studies and work in multi-lingual and multi-cultural environments, I have acquired a good knowledge of the different cultural aspects of the languages I translate from – my source languages. This makes it easier to perceive and correctly interpret the cultural nuances in the texts that I am about to translate. My goal is to offer my clients high-quality translations, for example to help them publish a Swedish version of their website, or translate business communication into Swedish.
I translate only into my mother tongue, Swedish. I keep up-to-date with Swedish news and the language through the media, through reading fiction and non-fiction and regular shorter and longer visits to Sweden. As a linguist, I also follow the language evolution, e.g. through the publications from the Swedish language planning organisations.
Why should you hire my services? To communicate your visions, your message ... in other words.
